Small wonders happen every day.

Deshima’s kittens are growing and developing well. Every day there is a surprise for me. One day a witnessed a small wonder.
As soon as their eyes opened, their little faces changed immediately. A few days later, they were able to see their world. The first two weeks mummy was their world they smelled her, they felt her warmth and they heard here coming.
We also were a part of their world and they turned their little heads towards us, when we visited them. We caressed them and spoke softly with them; I also like to sing for them.

One morning Deshima and her kittens were all together as always, and I wished them good morning as always. Deshima’s son was looking mesmerized at me for minutes. He did not move and he did not make a sound, he just was looking at me.
The kittens used to communicate and gather information with their voices; they used different “words”. They kept close to each other, they called each other, and they meowed happily  when mummy came back. When they needed or missed mummy they called her and mummy answered. They use all different tiny meows, Deshima also used meow’s we never had heard before.

Deshima’s son certainly recognized my voice, and finally he could see me too. I was so happy; we could become acquainted for the first time!
Deshima’s son was flabbergasted. He was completely frozen.
I know what he was thinking: “What is that?”

Deshima’s son is a real adventurer, and he tries to get out the den. He is determined to discover what is out there and keeps climbing out of the den, but his back legs are too
short, so he falls.

Today he succeeds and we have to adapt his playground in order to keep the kittens safe. His sister does not need to wander outside her den, but she watches her brother closely. She sometimes calls her brother and sometimes he listens, but he mostl of the time he continues his sniffing research. You actually can hear him doing his research; he sniffs loudly and for a long time.

Now it is time to introduce new nourishment: meat.  The kittens are used drinking mummy’s milk, now they have to learn how to eat. Ivan puts some meat on his finger and he shows it to the kittens.
Our boy is the first to have a look and a smell and he absolutely interested. What to do now?

Ivan has to help him and he puts some meat in the kittens’ mouth. That is certainly very tasty, but what he has to do now, is all Greek to him. It takes some attempts before he knows what to do. He still has to discover the muscles and coordinate them in order to eat.  Very complex indeed however in a few days he will be able to eat, the first step is always the hardest indeed.

                                   Wish you a wonderful day

                                            Love Conny
