Today is special day. Finally Gingers is going into the garden. For days she has been sitting on the windowsill, watching the other cats in the garden. She scratches the glass and meowed: “I want to go in the garden too”. The others heard her scratching and take turns to console her. They walked towards her and keep her company for a short time. Ginger definitely wanted to go into the garden and the day has come. Does this story has a happy end?
The door opens and Ginger steps out
into the garden. Noise a harsh, unpleasant sound, including background noise,
din, racket, roar and commotion all at once. Ginger stands petrified on the
pavement trying to analyse the unpleasant noise. She scans her surroundings and
her ears are moving fast in all directions trying to localize and pinpoint the
noise. Her whiskers are standing broadly and her nose is moving quickly. She
stands deathly quiet for a long time.
The other cats are running after
each other and are having fun, but Ginger is still standing quiet still.
We reassure her and take her to a less
exposed part of the garden. Ginger still is not sure of herself and she doesn’t
feel safe. But now she is not so exposed and while she is hiding in the plants
she observes her surroundings. Inch by inch she investigates the plants. Suddenly Baby appears out of thin air; she is chasing a frog and is
focussed on her pry. Baby is scared stiff, comes to a
standstill and starts hissing…….
Both cats gave each other a terrible
fright and both stood stock-still, the frog was forgotten. When Baby gets over the shock she continues
her chase and Ginger takes another good sniff and very carefully continues her
investigations. Now she is on the lookout for unexpected surprises or
tumultuous cats chasing a prey.
When she reaches the footpath she discovers
grass. The colour is new to her, but carefully she takes a
nibble and another nibble. Grass is well- known and this grass that is growing in a
sunny place is fantastic. Reassuring scents in grass surrounds her, she smells her mother,
Sammy and Sitka. The grass also makes exiting rustling sounds and she enjoys rolling
in the grass.
Suddenly a sound attracts her
attention, she stops rolling and she listens attentively, focussing all her
attention on that sound….. A fly! J
Seeing the fly triggers her hunting
instinct and she is enjoying herself. Finely she is a carefree and happy kitten
playing in a sunny garden. All‘s well that ends well?
Splash…..Splash….
Anxiously we all run towards the pond
and we notice Ginger making frantic efforts to climb on the shore. Gingers awkwardness
makes her falling back again and totally shaken she finally reaches the shore. She is
not a happy Bengal! Her first trip in the garden is a tragedy L
How is that possible, is our garden
no longer a safe haven for our Bangals?
Ginger could not see the water because
the pond is covered with duckweed, fortunately
she has a lucky escape. She is not amused: she loves playing with water but she
obviously does not like falling in water.
After her wet adventure Ginger goes indoors,
hides under a chair and starts cleaning herself. Heartbreaker has a look and a sniff
and is willing to give a hand in cleaning her. So much tender care helps Ginger
to overcome the shock. At the end, all ends well.
